Which Gobi itinerary fits you.
Gobi desert tours are the signature trip of Mongolia, and ours all run the same way: private, two to six guests, your own guide and Land Cruiser. Every itinerary reaches the three landmark sites, the Khongor sand dunes, the Flaming Cliffs of Bayanzag, and the ice gorge at Yoliin Am. The difference is what you add around them.
Six days is the tight, direct loop. Seven adds the granite mountains of Baga Gazariin Chuluu and Ongi Monastery. Eight and nine swing through Karakorum, the ruined capital of the empire, on the way back. Ten joins the Gobi to Central Mongolia's monasteries and lakes, and a second seven day version finishes in Terelj National Park instead.
The season is May to September, with June and September the kindest months: warm days, cold clear nights, and the dunes to yourselves. Distances are honest out here, most loops cover about two thousand kilometers, which is exactly why the vehicle and the days are yours alone.

The Gobi, asked directly.
When is the best time for a Gobi tour?
May to September. June and September are the sweet spot: long light, manageable heat, quiet ger camps. July and August are warmer and busier but entirely workable, the dunes cool fast after sunset.
Do we fly or drive?
Our itineraries are driving loops from Ulaanbaatar, because the land between the landmark sites is half the point: dinosaur country, camel herders, the granite of the middle Gobi. If your dates are tight, ask, and we will tell you honestly what fits.
Is the Gobi too hard for children or older travelers?
No. The days are long but the pace is yours, a private trip stops when you want to. Ger camps have real beds, and the walking at each site is as short or as long as you choose.
Tell us which Gobi you want.
